Over 83% of spectrum provisionally allocated so far

The government has allocated spectrum to bidders of approximately Rs 92,200 crore till now, with majority of service areas going at a premium to reserve price.

Six rounds of spectrum auction bidding was completed on Tuesday, with over 83 percent of spectrum being provisionally allocated so far.

The auctions saw aggressive bidding by mobile phone operators including  Bharti Airtel Ltd and  Idea Cellular Ltd for mobile airwaves, betting on a surge in data usage.

Considering the fact that bidding is taking place in all spectrum bands, there is activity seen in new service areas in 1800 MHz band. There has been a shift in activity from 2100 and 900 MHz bands to 1800 and 800 MHz bands.

On March 10, 2015, Bharti Airtel closed at Rs 367.90, up Rs 24.35, or 7.09 percent. The 52-week high of the share was Rs 419.90 and the 52-week low was Rs 289.80.


The company's trailing 12-month (TTM) EPS was at Rs 28.61 per share as per the quarter ended December 2014. The stock's price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio was 12.86. The latest book value of the company is Rs 166.93 per share. At current value, the price-to-book value of the company is 2.20.
